Suicide in front of EMS

Lancaster, PA over the weekend (hyperlink provided at

unharmed.


LANCASTER COUNTY, PA - Donald E. Reeves, 44, of Media,
committed suicide in his car after causing a two-car
crash in the 2100 block of Lincoln Highway East in
East Lampeter Township Saturday, East Lampeter
Township Police said.


Traveling west, Reeves struck a car driven by Scott
Doutrich, 34, of Lancaster, who was stopped to turn
south onto Greenland Drive from the left turn lane,
police said. The impact pushed Doutrich's Oldsmobile
Cutlass Sedan across the two westbound lanes, over a
curb and onto the front lawn of Your Place, 2133
Lincoln Highway East at 6 p.m.


A nearby Lancaster Emergency Medical Services
Association (LEMSA) medic immediately approached the
cars to check on the drivers' conditions. The medic
saw Reeves pull a handgun and fled from the car as
Reeves shot himself. Lafayette Fire Company assisted
East Lampeter Township Police at the scene, closing
down all traffic from 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Reeves's motive
is unknown and the investigation is ongoing, according
to police.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
